The southernmost shores of Sicily

In southeast Sicily, there are stunning white sandy beaches and a crystal-clear sea, reminiscent of a postcard from the Caribbean.

The southernmost shores of Sicily boasts a transparent sea with shades ranging from light blue to turquoise green, making it a perfect destination for beach lovers.

The area has several kilometer-long sandy beaches, some of which have been awarded the prestigious “Blue Flag” multiple times.

There are also rocky bays, ideal for diving enthusiasts. One notable area is the Plemmirio protected marine area, located on the Maddalena peninsula near Syracuse.

Besides its stunning sea landscape, the area is also of historical significance, as ancient remains and artifacts, including amphorae and relics from World War I, can be found hidden in the seabed.

Moving south, the tiny seaside resort of Fontane Bianche is located between the Plemmirio marine reserve and the Cavagrande del Cassibile Nature Reserve.

Fontane Bianche offers a heavenly beach with white sand and a transparent sea.

Similar picturesque sceneries can be found in Lido di Noto.

Within a short distance from Lido di Noto, the Vendicari Nature Reserve is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily.

This nature reserve is rich in rare flora and fauna, making it a special place to visit.

Among the stunning beaches, Calamosche stands out, with its crystal-clear waters and peaceful atmosphere that can make you lose track of time.

At the end of the day, while heading back to your villa, don’t miss the breathtaking sight of thousands of pink flamingos flying off the ponds of the Vendicari Nature Reserve.

Continuing south, the quaint village of Marzamemi awaits, located in the Pachino area.

Marzamemi was born as a seafaring village and has now become a well-known seaside resort.

A visit here is highly recommended, especially for indulging in a fish-based dinner at one of the charming open-air restaurants along the main street.

Don’t forget to take a moment to admire the local “baglio,” a beautiful example of an ancient Arab courtyard.

Traveling even further south, you’ll reach the suburb of Portopalo di Capopassero, specifically the Isola delle Correnti (Island of Streams).

This tiny island, easily accessible within minutes from the beach, is the southernmost point of Sicily’s mainland.

The location overlooks the meeting point of the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, creating a stunning panorama.

The rocky cliffs of the island are rich in sea urchins, and locals can show you how to collect them and enjoy them fresh.

Heading west, you’ll find many more golden sandy beaches, such as Santa Maria del Focallo, Pozzallo, Marina di Modica, Sampieri, and Donnalucata.

Among these, Marina di Ragusa beach is highly recommended for its white sand, transparent sea, beautiful landscape, and excellent facilities.

It has been awarded the Blue Flag Award for several consecutive years.

For enchanting and romantic sunsets, Punta Secca is the place to be.

Here, you can visit the house of the famous fictional detective Montalbano, created by writer Andrea Camilleri.

Next to the house, you’ll find a charming arancine shop, perfect for enjoying the awe-inspiring sunset, just like the locals do.
